2018 was an exciting year for us at Sideline Orthopedics and Sports Medicine! We grew from one office to three (yes three!) convenient locations throughout southwest Virginia. You can now visit us in Wytheville and Bluefield, in addition to our Blacksburg office. In October, we celebrated our two-year anniversary and we are so thankful to be where we are today.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support from our wonderful community. We love our community and enjoy getting involved and giving back when we can.
Here are a few of the ways we got involved in our community in 2018!
Pretty in Pink Day
In October, our entire staff participated in the 10th Annual Pretty in Pink Day Fundraiser for the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. For one day, our entire staff dressed up in custom pink Sideline Orthopedic shirts to help raise awareness. Our team is very proud to support this annual event.
What made this day really special? Our entire team participated! Days like this would not be possible without such overwhelming and enthusiastic support from our staff. We are so thankful for our amazing team, and for all those who supported this awesome cause.
Montgomery County Christmas Store
Last year, our Blacksburg office served as a collection site for the Montgomery County Christmas Store. For those unfamiliar with the store, it is an all-volunteer, community-wide, non-profit organization that assists low-income families during the Christmas season by providing a shopping experience characterized by choice and dignity.
We asked members in our community to drop off toiletries, such as shampoo, body wash, lotion, and more at our office. We then collected all of the items and donated them to the Christmas Store.
Holiday Tree Competition
In December, our Blacksburg office took part in a holiday tree decorating competition. Anyone in the community was allowed to place a $1 vote and all proceeds were donated to Micah’s Backpack, a program that provides direct food assistance for children from low-income families.
Our tree was not an ordinary Christmas tree: instead of fir or pine–or even synthetic!–we used crutches held together with lights and ribbon. We topped it all off with business cards from our team and a Christmas list for Santa.

While we did not win first place, our team enjoyed putting the tree together and we were happy to add some Sideline Christmas cheer to Kent Square. Thank you to everyone who came out to Kent Square and voted!
Giving back to the community that supports us is so important. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for our community and for Sideline Orthopedics in 2019! From all of us here: we hope you have a Happy New Year!
